12/30/2023 0 Comments Instant pot 3qt duo plusBut now I have Duo Plus V2 and Ultras, so I gave the Magic Chef to my sister. I owned the stainless one before I got an IP and it was as nice as the IP Duo. The Magic Chef models at Home are great for a $50-$56ish foray into pressure cooking. Might be a good entry level one if you're not sure you want to really get into pressure cooking. Parts for CPE are notoriously hard to get, but if you're the type who throws out broken appliances and gets a new one, the 1 year warranty on it ought to cover anything that might be defective. Has yogurt, no sous vide, but I think you can get one for $40ish with the current sale. Kohl's has a good deal on a 6qt CrockPot Express. I keep grabbing my old dented Ultra, haha. I actually have a 6qt Duo Evo Plus but haven't taken time to do more than test it. Duo Evo Plus, some have a C8 error when getting too hot during a saute. I'm just all "meh" on the Duo Nova, but lots of people love theirs. I'm kind of meh on it because I've seen a lot of complaints that it runs hot and gives "burn" error on some tried and true recipes. Adds blue led display from the Duo Plus, and a lid with a self-closing steam vent. Duo has red LED display, big letters and numbers, easy to read.ĭuo Nova, that's the one that IP hoped to replace the Duo with, I think. I actually like the simplicity of the manual release, particularly for doing a "controlled release" where you're flipping the release open/closed to vent off some pressure before you fully open it. It has a manual release handle for steam release, which you must open and close yourself. Nice machines but overpriced, usually.ĭuo is a very capable machine that has yogurt and low pressure and will do almost everything people need to do. I have no objection to either version of Duo Plus and have owned both. The status icons are of no real use whatsoever if you are running your IP set and forget and just walking away from it while it cooks. I would skip the older 2017 non-sous-vide IP unless it was a bargain price. I have 2, the blue one's for sale, and the sous vide on it is very accurate (1F higher than the setpoint with the pressure cooking lid on it for best insulation), and it has a lid with self-closing steam release with a pushbutton to open it like the Ultra. A Duo Plus V2 with sous vide is worth getting. It was sold as a package including the glass lid and an extra gasket. Then in 4Q 2019, the Duo V2 with sous vide and available in several colors from QVC, in 6qt, was released. But none of that really gets you much function, imo. Duo Plus: The original Duo Plus was released in 2017 and it has a blue LED display and 4 "status icons" and a sterilize cycle. And there are better deals on starter accessories sets for the 6 qt and up and generally you pay a premium price for cheesecake pans, steamer baskets, 4-hole egg bite molds, etc. Recipes are written for 6, as others said. 6 qt: Go with the 6 qt if you only have budget for one IP.
